Today, in a historic moment, Yukoners voted “yes“ to ranked voting by a significant margin. More than 56% of plebiscite votes were in favour of the “yes” option, to switch to a ranked voting system as recommend by the Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform.

Under our current voting system, the math doesn’t always math.
Yukon’s elected representatives are often elected by a minority of voters. They don’t need a majority of votes to win – just more than anyone else. In practice, they have received as little as 30 per cent of the vote.

Does the proposed ranked ballot voting system lean toward any particular party?
The ranked ballot does a better job of electing the government that most voters want. It doesn't favour any one party, it favours voters!
